Update : November 2006
In creating the Blueprint for British tennis, we wanted to outline an honest analysis of the state of British tennis, and then map out fundamental changes to the way in which we support and develop the sport.
In mid October, after a period of six months during which a significant number of people representing all tennis stakeholders gave their time and contributed to the content of the Blueprint, we published the document to share the plan and invite further public feedback.
Over 5,000 people worldwide reviewed the Blueprint and we received a huge amount of feedback.
We especially thank all those people who wrote to us.
The vast majority of feedback has been positive and supportive of the Blueprint, along with some constructive suggestions that will help us as we now start to implement the plan.
Areas of concern that have most frequently been raised have centred on the ballots for Wimbledon tickets (we are only planning to change the ballot associated with the LTA’s Advantage Club Membership scheme), club affiliation, tennis in the community and the social game.
The establishment and integration of a strong Tennis Leadership Team early in 2007, as we have just announced, is an important step in this plan. This team will have the lead role of transforming the way we work, with the Blueprint as their guide, and putting tennis at the heart of everything we do.
During 2007 we will be getting on with implementing the plan in a more detailed and carefully sequenced way. It will clearly take several years for everything in the Blueprint to be put into place. We will continue to listen as we move further into implementation, and we will continue with our efforts to enable everyone with an interest in British tennis to keep up with developments
